Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Psych
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Medical Psych unit is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health and medical co-morbidities. They work closely with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments on patients with medical conditions.
2. Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
4. Monitor and evaluate patient progress and update treatment plans accordingly.
5. Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
6. Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options.
7. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
8. Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately and timely.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Active RN license in the state of practice.
2. BSN or higher degree in Nursing.
3. Certification in psychiatric nursing preferred.
4. At least 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing.
5. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
8. Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatments.
