Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) is responsible for providing exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The PACU nurse will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth postoperative recovery process. The nurse will monitor vital signs, administer medications, and be on alert for any signs of complications or adverse reactions to medication.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor the patient's vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation levels
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician
- Assess the patient's level of pain and provide appropriate pain management
- Monitor the patient for any signs of complications or adverse reactions to medication
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding the patient's condition and progress
- Record and document all patient information and treatment provided
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
Qualifications and Skills:
- A valid RN license from an accredited nursing program
- A minimum of two years of experience working in the PACU
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond calmly under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- BLS and ACLS certification
