Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for caring for pregnant women and their babies during the childbirth process. This includes providing medical support, monitoring vital signs, administering medication, and assisting with labor and delivery procedures. The role requires excellent clinical skills, compassion, and the ability to work under pressure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing the health status of pregnant women and their unborn babies
- Providing support and education to expectant mothers and their families
- Monitoring fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs during labor
- Administering medication and IV fluids as needed
- Assisting with labor and delivery procedures, including epidurals and cesarean sections
- Providing emotional support to patients and their families during the childbirth process
- Documenting patient information and maintaining accurate medical records
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) recommended
- At least 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Compassion and empathy for patients and their families
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
