Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Bariatric Services, Med-surg Adult
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Bariatric Services within the Med-surg Adult department, you will provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing bariatric surgery and recovering from related procedures. You will be responsible for assessing patients' needs, planning and implementing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs related to bariatric surgery.
2. Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing bariatric procedures.
3. Monitor patients' post-operative recovery and manage any complications that may arise.
4. Educate patients on post-operative care, diet, and lifestyle changes to promote successful outcomes.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, dietitians, and physical therapists, to coordinate patient care.
6. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide wound care as needed.
7. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in medical records.
8. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. BSN degree preferred.
3. Certification in bariatric nursing or Med-surg Adult nursing preferred.
4. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Med-surg or bariatric setting.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
7. Knowledge of bariatric surgical procedures and post-operative care protocols.
8. BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
