Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Nurse
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the position of Med Surg Nurse. As a Med Surg Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality and patient-centered care to medical surgical patients. Your primary goal will be to ensure positive patient outcomes by implementing a comprehensive nursing care plan, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent critical thinking abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and throughout the hospital stay
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans for patients with medical surgical conditions
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
- Monitor vital signs and detect any changes in patient conditions
- Assist with diagnostic procedures and monitor patient responses
- Monitor and manage patient pain levels and provide appropriate interventions
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during challenging times
- Maintain accurate and updated patient medical records
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Stay updated with the latest medical surgical nursing practices and advances in technology
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an RN in a medical surgical setting
- BSN degree or higher in Nursing (preferred)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of patient safety protocols and infection control principles
