Job Title: Registered Nurse, Emergency Department
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing high-quality and efficient care to patients experiencing acute illness or injury. They must assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Triage and assess patients upon arrival in the Emergency Department
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
3. Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition
4. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
6. Assist with emergency procedures and interventions as needed
7. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
8. Educate patients and families on disease management and prevention
9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment
10. Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives
12. Provide emotional support to patients and families during times of crisis
13. Stay current on best practices and evidence-based guidelines in emergency nursing
14. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
15. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing preferred
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- CEN certification a plus
