Job Title: PCU, Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU)
Job Summary:
The PCU, Intensive Care / Coronary Nurse (ICU) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of a healthcare facility. They monitor patients' vital signs, administer medication, and collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement treatment plans.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor and assess patients' condition and vital signs.
2. Administer medication and IV fluids as prescribed by healthcare providers.
3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
4. Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices.
5. Respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving interventions as needed.
6. Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records.
7. Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients.
8. Assist with patient transfers and transportation within the healthcare facility.
9. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices in critical care nursing.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
3. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
4. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in critical care nursing.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
8. Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
9. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
