Job Title: Practical Nurse (Psych)
Job Summary:
The Practical Nurse (Psych) will be responsible for providing quality care to patients with psychiatric or mental health disorders. This includes assessing patients, developing care plans, administering medications, monitoring patients' progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct initial assessments of patients with psychiatric illnesses
2. Develop and implement individualized care plans
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
4. Monitor patients' vital signs and behavior
5. Provide therapeutic interventions as needed
6. Document all patient interactions and treatments
7. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers to coordinate patient care
8. Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options
9. Participate in treatment team meetings and case conferences
10. Follow all legal and ethical guidelines in the provision of care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of practice
- Previous experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- BLS certification required
