Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Nurse plays a vital role in providing immediate medical care to patients in an emergency room setting. They are responsible for assessing and treating patients during medical emergencies, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring the efficient operation of the emergency room.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assess and triage patients upon arrival to the emergency room
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and symptoms
- Assist with medical procedures and interventions in emergency situations
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the emergency room
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to patient care and safety
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an emergency room setting
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations
