Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse, Registered Nurse
Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse, Registered Nurse primarily provides care and support to pregnant women before, during, and after childbirth. They monitor the mother and baby's vital signs, assist with labor and delivery, and provide education and counseling to new mothers on breastfeeding and newborn care. This role requires a high level of skill, empathy, and attention to detail to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor and assess the progress of labor
2. Assist with labor and delivery procedures
3. Administer medications and epidurals as needed
4. Provide emotional support to laboring mothers and their families
5. Educate new mothers on postpartum care and newborn care
6. Document patient information and maintain accurate records
7. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients
8. Handle emergencies and complications during childbirth
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. BSN or ADN degree from an accredited nursing program
3. Certification in Labor and Delivery Nursing (preferred)
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work well under pressure
6. Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
8. Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families
