Job Title: Labor and Delivery/Newborn/Postpartum Registered Nurse
Job Summary: The Labor and Delivery/Newborn/Postpartum RN will provide compassionate care to mothers and newborns before, during, and after childbirth. This role requires critical thinking skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to promoting the health and well-being of both mother and baby.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor mother and baby's vital signs during labor and delivery
2. Assist with the birthing process and provide emotional support to mothers
3. Educate mothers on newborn care and breastfeeding techniques
4. Perform postpartum assessments on mothers and newborns
5. Administer medications as prescribed by physicians
6. Document all patient interactions and maintain accurate medical records
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
8. Provide support and guidance to new parents during the postpartum period
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery, newborn, or postpartum nursing
4. Strong understanding of labor and delivery protocols and procedures
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work well under pressure and in high-stress situations
7. Knowledge of newborn care practices and breastfeeding techniques
