Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for providing care and support to women during childbirth and the postpartum period. They work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby during labor and delivery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor mother and baby's vital signs during labor and delivery
- Assist with pain management techniques, such as epidurals or breathing exercises
- Support and educate mothers on breastfeeding and newborn care
- Assist with the delivery of the baby, including monitoring fetal heart rate and assisting with emergency procedures if necessary
- Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care for mothers and babies
- Offer emotional support and guidance to mothers and their families throughout the childbirth process
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license
- BSN degree preferred
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) preferred
- 2+ years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
