Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse - Med Surg Emergency Room Nurse provides compassionate and high-quality care to patients in the emergency room setting. They are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to delivering exceptional care to patients in crisis.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing and triaging patients upon arrival to the emergency room
2. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
3. Monitoring patient vital signs and responding to changes in condition
4. Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans
5. Providing emotional support to patients and their families during times of crisis
6. Educating patients on their conditions and treatment options
7. Documenting patient care accurately and thoroughly in medical records
8. Participating in emergency response protocols and procedures
9. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
10. Participating in professional development and continuing education activities
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a med surg or emergency room setting
4. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work well under pressure and in high-stress situations
7. Knowledge of emergency medications and treatments
8. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
9. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
10. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
