Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. They are essential in ensuring that the operating room is prepared for procedures and that equipment is properly sterilized and functioning.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Set up surgical instruments and equipment before surgeries
2. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
3. Monitor and maintain a sterile field during surgeries
4. Prepare and transport patients to the operating room
5. Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and equipment
6. Clean and sterilize instruments
7. Assist with patient prepping and positioning
8. Provide support to surgical team members as needed
9. Follow protocols for infection control and safety standards
10. Document patient care and procedures accurately
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program
3. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
4. Knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment
5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
6. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
8. Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
9. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
10. Commitment to patient safety and quality care
