Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in assisting surgeons and nurses in the operating room. They are responsible for preparing and maintaining surgical equipment, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring a sterile environment during surgeries.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
2. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies.
3. Maintain a sterile field during surgery to prevent contamination.
4. Prepare patients for surgery by positioning and draping them appropriately.
5. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide assistance as needed.
6. Handle specimens for laboratory analysis as directed by the surgeon.
7. Assist with dressing wounds and applying bandages after surgery.
8. Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments after each procedure.
9. Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately.
10. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Certification or Associate's degree in Surgical Technology.
2. Current BLS certification.
3. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
5. Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task effectively.
6. Knowledge of surgical procedures and medical terminology.
7. Familiarity with surgical equipment and instruments.
8. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills.
10. Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
