The PACU / Med-Surg Adult Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality post-operative and medical-surgical patient care. The RN assesses, monitors, and manages patients recovering from anesthesia and undergoing medical/surgical treatment, ensuring safe transition from the operating room to inpatient or discharge settings.
✔ Monitor post-anesthesia recovery, airway, respiratory status, and consciousness levels
✔ Manage pain control, vitals, neurologic and hemodynamic stability
✔ Assess and document patient responses to medications and treatment
✔ Identify early signs of complications (bleeding, respiratory distress, shock, etc.)
✔ Administer IV fluids, medications, blood products and perform wound care
✔ Provide continuous patient assessment and nursing interventions
✔ Prepare patients for transfer to Med-Surg/ICU or for safe discharge
✔ Educate patients and families on post-operative care, safety and recovery
✔ Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams
✔ Maintain regulatory and infection control standards
🔸 Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
🔸 1–2 years experience in PACU / ICU / Critical Care / Med-Surg preferred
🔸 BLS and ACLS certifications required
🔸 Strong clinical judgment, multitasking and emergency response skills
⭐ Experience with surgical drains, catheters, chest tubes
⭐ Pain management protocols and PCA devices
⭐ Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems
