Job Summary

The Step Down / PCU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients who are stable but still require close monitoring, typically transferred from the ICU. This role bridges critical care and general medical-surgical nursing.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and care for post-ICU and high-acuity patients
Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry
Assess vital signs, oxygen levels, and patient status
Administer medications, IV therapy, and pain management
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery
Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
Follow hospital safety, infection control, and quality standards

Qualifications

Active RN license (State / Compact license preferred)
Experience in Step Down Unit, PCU, ICU, or Telemetry
BLS required; ACLS preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
