The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Step-Down provides intermediate-level care to patients transitioning from intensive care to general medical units. This role involves close monitoring of patients with complex medical conditions, ensuring stability, and preventing complications in a high-acuity environment.
Monitor patients with complex medical conditions requiring close observation
Assess vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall patient status
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed
Manage patients with conditions such as cardiac, respiratory, and post-critical care recovery
Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition promptly
Provide patient and family education on treatment and recovery plans
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems
Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and clinical protocols
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification (preferred/required by facility)
Minimum 2 years of experience in Step-Down, ICU, or Med-Surg units (MANDATORY)
Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills
Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and critical care concepts
Ability to handle high-acuity patients
Critical thinking and rapid decision-making
Excellent communication and teamwork
Attention to detail and patient safety
Hospital Step-Down / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
High-acuity, fast-paced clinical setting
Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Experience in ICU or Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Familiarity with telemetry monitoring
Experience with EMR systems
