We are seeking a detail-oriented Histotechnologist to work in a clinical laboratory setting, responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination. The Histotechnologist will perform specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards.
Receive, label, and process surgical and biopsy specimens
Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, and sectioning (microtomy)
Prepare slides using routine and special stains (H&E, PAS, IHC support)
Operate and maintain histology lab equipment (microtomes, processors, cryostats)
Perform frozen sections when required
Ensure proper specimen identification and chain-of-custody
Maintain quality control and troubleshoot staining/processing issues
Follow CLIA, CAP, OSHA guidelines and lab safety protocols
Document procedures, results, and quality assurance logs
Assist pathologists and lab teams with workflow efficiency
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Biology, or related field
Certification as HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) preferred (or eligible)
Hands-on experience in histology lab operations
Knowledge of tissue processing, staining methods, and lab safety standards
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment
Experience with Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains
Familiarity with LIS systems and lab documentation
Prior clinical lab experience in hospital or diagnostic lab settings
Strong troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills
