Position Title: Clinical Staff Nurse Educator (Surgical Services)
Job Summary:
The Clinical Staff Nurse Educator – Surgery is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff within surgical services. This role ensures clinical competency, promotes evidence-based practice, and supports high-quality patient care in perioperative and surgical units.
Develop and deliver orientation and ongoing education programs for surgical nursing staff
Assess competency and provide hands-on clinical training in perioperative practices
Support staff development in pre-op, intra-op, and post-op (PACU) care
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and leadership to enhance clinical performance
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Mentor and coach new and existing nursing staff
Evaluate training effectiveness and update materials as needed
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
BSN required (MSN preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years of surgical/operating room nursing experience
Previous educator or preceptor experience preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
Perioperative nursing expertise
Curriculum development
Staff competency assessment
Quality improvement methodologies
Knowledge of accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission)
