Job Title: Technician - Sterile Processing (SPT)
Job Summary:
As a Technician - Sterile Processing (SPT), you will be responsible for the proper cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and storage of medical instruments and equipment used in healthcare facilities. Your attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols will ensure the safety and well-being of patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Receive, inspect, and disassemble medical instruments for cleaning.
2. Operate sterilization equipment following established procedures.
3. Assemble and package sterilized instruments for distribution.
4. Monitor and record sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance.
5. Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and restock as needed.
6. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
7. Collaborate with healthcare providers to fulfill instrument requests.
8. Participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or GED required; certification in Sterile Processing preferred.
2. Prior experience in healthcare or sterile processing preferred.
3. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
5. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
6. Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
7. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
