We are seeking an empathetic and skilled Chemical Dependency Counselor to support individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will provide counseling, treatment planning, education, and recovery support while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations of clients with substance use disorders
Develop individualized treatment plans and recovery goals
Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions
Educate clients and families on addiction, coping skills, and relapse prevention
Document treatment progress according to clinical and regulatory standards
Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, and case managers
Maintain client confidentiality and comply with ethical guidelines
Assist clients in building support networks and accessing community resources
Participate in crisis intervention when required
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Bachelorās/Masterās degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
Certification preferred: CADC, LADC, CAC, or equivalent (as required by state regulations)
Experience working with substance use disorder clients
Strong knowledge of addiction theories, treatment modalities, and recovery models
Excellent communication, empathy, and crisis-management skills
Experience in detox, residential, or outpatient recovery programs
Familiarity with trauma-informed care, dual diagnosis, and motivational interviewing
Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
Documentation and EMR proficiency
