Job Title: Wound Ostomy Nurse (WOC Nurse)

📍 Location: Newport Beach, CA
📅 Start Date: ASAP
⏳ Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
🕘 Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We have an urgent staffing need for an experienced Wound Ostomy Nurse to provide specialized wound, ostomy, and skin care services. The nurse will assess patients, develop treatment plans, provide education, and work closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal healing and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive wound and skin assessments and document findings

• Develop and implement individualized wound care plans (pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, etc.)

• Provide ostomy care including pouching systems, stoma assessment, and patient teaching

• Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention, ostomy management, and skin care

• Support pressure injury prevention programs and infection control practices

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, case management, and therapy departments

• Recommend appropriate wound care products and supplies

• Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care outcomes

• Ensure compliance with facility policies, evidence-based practice, and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California or compact if applicable)

• Minimum 2+ years of clinical nursing experience (wound/ostomy strongly preferred)

• Strong knowledge of wound staging, treatment protocols, and skin integrity management

• Excellent patient education and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• WOCN Certification (Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse) preferred

• Experience in acute care, outpatient, or wound clinic settings

• Knowledge of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT/Wound VAC)

• BLS certification required
